Harrison Chinedu as the first man to travel the farthest distance while balancing a football on his head. The Cambodia-based footballer set the record after walking a total distance of 48.08km from the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on March 6.

BREAKING: NLC to proceed on strike tomorrow despite court order

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has vowed to go ahead with its planned strike despite the ruling of the National Industrial Court.

Benson Upah, the union’s head of information, confirmed this to TheCable late Tuesday.

“‎NLC’s position has not shifted. The strike will go on tomorrow,” he said.

The federal government has announced a full deregulation of the downstream sector of the Nigerian petroleum industry, pushing the price of petrol to about N145 a litre.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, announced the policy change in Abuja on Wednesday afternoon, confirming PREMIUM TIMES exclusive report of Monday, May 9 on the matter.

“In order to increase and stabilise the supply of the product, any Nigerian entity is now free to import the product, subject to existing quality specifications and other guidelines issued by Regulatory Agencies,” Mr. Kachikwu said.

BREAKING: Police arrest Man who killed his wife and was on the run [PUNCH]

The Lagos Police have arrested Mr. Lekan Shondi for allegedly killing his wife Ronke.

The police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, said the police tracked him down, adding that he will be transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation.

But Lekan, who has been speaking with our correspondent since 7am till 2.37pm, said he surrendered himself.

Many fresh tomato sellers have also resorted to purchasing the produce from neighbouring countries, especially the Republic of Benin and Cameroon, in an effort to bridge the shortfall in Nigeria.

The disease which farmers also refer to as ‘Tomato Ebola’ has reduced locally available fresh tomatoes, forcing consumers to buy canned purees/pastes which are relatively cheaper.

A bill for a law which prescribes five-year jail term for lecturers who engage in sexual relationship with students passed its first reading in the Senate on Wednesday.

The bill, sponsored by Ovie Omo-Agege (Labour-Delta Central) and co-sponsored by 46 other senators, seeks to completely prohibit any form of sexual relationship between lecturers and their students.
