President Buhari Orders Investigation of SGF, others over corruption allegations

President Buhari has ordered the investigation of top government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, that have been indicted in one corruption investigation or the other. Nigerian Army Chief Weeps As Army Buries Heroes

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai wept as he gave an emotionally speech at the burial of seven soldiers recently killed in a Boko Haram attack at Malam Fotori, Borno state.

The Army chief’s voice cracked while speaking during the gloomy military burial ceremony of the soldiers, which reflected the painful mood at the Nation Military Cemetery in Abuja on Monday.

Buratai in his speech said: “here lie the bodies of our fallen heroes; Lt. Co. Muhammad Abu Ali, Staff Sgt. Muazu Ibrahim, Sgt Husseini Jafaru, Sgt Okon Bassey, Cpl Chukwu Simon, PTE Salishu Lawal, and Able Seaman Patrick Paul.”

He said: “These gallant soldiers were inducted into Operation Lafiya Dole in 2014 to form the pivot of the counter insurgency efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the North East.”

CAUGHT! NAFDAC Arrests Man Making Fake Peak Milk

THE National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has arrested a 56-year-old man, Christopher Nnabuihe, for selling faked Peak Milk.

The suspect, who lives at 42, Cameroun Road in Calabar, Cross River State, has confessed to the crime.

A NAFDAC statement made available to Southern City News on Tuesday quoted Nnabuihe as confessing that he procured cheap powdered milk and branded and branded it as Peak Milk, which is more expensive.

LAGOS— A 41-year-old woman, who was arrested by policemen attached to Area ‘J’ Command, Ajah, Lagos State, for allegedly hiring assassins to kill her husband of 14 years over a disagreement which led to their separation, has said she was a frustrated housewife but that she only sent the thugs to beat him.

The suspect, Mrs. Chika Orji, was arrested following a confessional statement by one of the suspected assassins, Bright Ikechukwu, who was arrested while attempting to break into Mr. Orji’s apartment at Jakande Estate, Ajah.

During preliminary investigation, it was discovered that one of those hired for the botched assassination was a carpenter, identified as Ekene, who usually worked for Mr. Orji.

Barely 24 hours after his detention, former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the N4.745billion wired to a company linked to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA).

The said cash was wired into the company, Sylva Mcnamara within seven months in 2014.

He said N2.23billion was transferred to Fayose out of the slush funds.

He said out of the sum, he handed over $5,377,000 to Fayose in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele.

He admitted that the N1.3billion was flown to Akure airport in two chartered flights for delivery to Agbele.

The money was sourced from $2.1billion meant for arms from the Office of the National Security (ONSA).

Governor of Lagos State, Ambode, Sacks Commissioners!


The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday fired the commissioners for Tourism, Mr Folorunsho Folarin-Coker; Finance, Dr. Mustapha Akinkunmi and Transport, Dr. Ekundayo Mobereola.

The committee noted that it appears the court affidavit and police extract were procured after Abubakar had been nominated to serve in the board.

The committee also said that it was interesting that the highest academic qualification of the nominee was a one-year “Diploma in Computer” from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Fraudster Who Photocopies Naira Notes Arrested

Operatives of the Rumuepirikom Division of the Rivers State Police Command, on October 18, 2016, arrested three suspected fraudsters in connection with circulating fake currency notes. They are Andrew Ogah ‘m’, Ozoemena Okeke ‘m’, and Helen Ozoemena Okeke ‘f’.

They have photocopied N500 and N1000 denomination notes of Nigeria currencies and were arrested when Mr. Andrew went to deposit the money in a new generation bank.


Investigation is ongoing at the Division as the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations is completed.

Policemen Have No Right to Check Vehicle Particulars - AIG


Mr Dan Bature, an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in Charge of Zone 11 comprising Oyo, Osun and Ondo states, says any policeman checking vehicle particulars on the highways is on illegal duty.

Bature said this on Wednesday in Ibadan during a two-day familiarisation visit to Oyo State.

He said that the duty of the police was not to check vehicle particulars but to ensure safer roads.

Bature warned policemen against blocking high ways, saying police patrol vehicles were not supposed to be toll gates.

BREAKING: Boko Haram Releases Chibok Girls!!!

Boko Haram militants herded the 276 girls out of bed at a school in Chibok in northern Nigeria in April 2014.
Boko Haram militants handed over 21 missing Chibok schoolgirls to the Nigerian government Thursday morning, according to a source with direct knowledge of the release.
The girls, who have not been named, remain in Maiduguri, the source said.
    The militants herded the 276 girls out of bed at a school in Chibok in northern Nigeria in April 2014.

    The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has accused western powers of being a stumbling block to Nigeria’s plan to improve power output through the use of coal.
    Adeosun said this on Wednesday in Washington during a discussion on the importance of addressing infrastructure gaps in developing countries at the World BankInternational Monetary Fund General Meetings.
    She said that improving power supply was the corner stone of the current administration’s goal towards economic development, yet finding it difficult to get support from western community.
    “We want to build a coal power plant because we are a country blessed with coal, yet we have power problem. So it doesn’t take a genius to workout that it will make sense to build a coal power plant.
    However, we are being blocked from doing so, because it is not green. This is not fair because they have an entire western industrialisation that was built on coal fired energy.

    The senate is now in possession of a memo on the proposed emergency powers bill from President Muhammadu Buhari — and an important component of the bill is to abridge the process of sale or lease of government assets to generate revenue.
