BREAKING: Senate confirms Amaechi as Minister as PDP senators stage walkout...

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This did not come easy as the PDP senators opposed his confirmation. The PDP senators wanted the report by the ethics committee on Ameachi to be adopted but the APC senators shut that down.

The PDP senators after a fierce argument with their APC colleagues, staged a walk out to prevent Amaechi's confirmation.

This had no effect as the Senate went ahead to confirm Amaechi as a minister.

Many see this as a win for Saraki, showing his party loyalty but this also means he might lose the support of the PDP senators.

Senate rejects N63.5bn Abuja airport runway contract

The Senate yesterday objected to the proposed review of the contract for the construction of the second Runway for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at the cost of N63.5bn. The objection was as a result of a motion sponsored by Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West). Moving the motion, Melaye noted that the contract for the second runway was cancelled by the last administration after allegations of over inflation of contracts was established.

The former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has accused Governor Nyesom Wike led administration of misusing over forty billion naira borrowed funds.

Amaechi told a crowd of APC Supporters in Port Harcourt that investigations have shown that all funds borrowed by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led government have been for personal use and not for the development of the state.
