A security source told SaharaReporters that they could only confirm two bombings with one detonated just behind Kuje police station. In a separate incident, another bomber detonated explosives at Nyanya area of an earlier bombing in the city.
Today’s bomb attacks seemed to have been predicted in tweets by one “Chima Okoro63” who posted several tweets on October 1, 2015, stating that Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram planned to bomb police, navy and army formations and kill many security agents.
It is unclear whether Nigeria’s security agents were aware of the tweets or if they took any action based on them.
Our security source said he could not say how many people died in the Kuje blasts. “We’re still trying to secure the areas. We don’t know the number of people killed or wounded,” he said.
However, citizen journalists affiliated with SaharaReporters sent photos of victims of the bombing where over 13 bodies have so far been recovered.
