Senator Dino Melaye said in a chat with AIT on Tuesday that the APC Senators had a meeting on Monday and agreed to support Former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, to ensure he had a smooth screening on Thursday.
Senator Melaye said the APC senators would lobby their PDP counterparts to ensure Amaechi's screening was not rancorous and that Amaechi passes the screening successfully.
He said the PDP caucus would be meeting later on Tuesday to decide on Amaechi's case and was hopeful they would agree to support the former Rivers governor.Interestingly, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is expected to be at the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday and the screening may be chaired by the PDP deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
This should be an interesting drama.
